Venues

Due to renovations at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas, the Festival is taking place at two new venues this year. The majority of our screenings will be held at the AMC Van Ness Theatres, located just several blocks away from Japantown. Japantowns Peace Plaza will host outdoor events over the first weekend, and a number of Japantown businesses will be offering promotional prices for Festival ticketholders.

Also new this year is the Landmark Opera Plaza Cinema, just a short walk down Van Ness Avenue from the AMC. Returning to host a weekend full of screenings, including our Opening Night Gala and Centerpiece Presentation, is the historic Castro Theatre. Also returning are our East Bay and South Bay partners, the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley and the Camera 12 Cinemas in San Jose.
